It has been 20 years since I wrote the draft proposal for “THE EARTH DEFENSE FORCE,” one of many SIMPLE 2000 series titles. I never imagined that the battle to defend Earth would turn out to be so long. I have been writing the scenario for all the mainline EDF titles by myself. Over the lifespan of the series, the number of missions and weapons increased greatly along with the amount of text. I don’t even remember everything I have written. Every time there was a new title, I wrote a considerable amount of voice lines for the AI characters. However, even when I think I have a “brand new” line, I’m surprised to hear some of these “brand new” lines being played in a past installment.
It seems rare nowadays for a series to have the same members continue to develop the mainline titles for such a long time. SANDLOT used to be known for developing mech games, but over time we have become known to be the developer of EARTH DEFENSE FORCE.
The reason we have been able to continue this series for such a long time is because of the fans who have supported us. We would like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for finding EARTH DEFENSE FORCE and helping it grow to what it is today. We will continue to work our hardest to release fun games.

EARTH DEFENSE FORCE will be celebrating its 20th anniversary. I’m surprised at how fast time passes.
When I first started developing "THE EARTH DEFENSE FORCE," I remember taking advantage of the very flexible "SIMPLE 2000 series" format and having a lot of fun creating whatever I wanted.

Congratulations and thank you for the 20th anniversary. I’m always surprised to hear that this title has already been out for 20 years.
I remember when I drew the EDF1 characters, I had very little time. I can’t believe the characters I drew 20 years ago are still live and running. In retrospect, I wish I had more time to properly draw these characters.
We’ve been through many generations of game consoles. Every time there was a new console generation, I was always excited about creating the background story of the characters who fought for their homeland. Thank you for your support over the past 20 years and I hope for your continued support.

It’s the 20th anniversary of the EARTH DEFENSE FORCE series. It seems like only yesterday I was working on the first "THE EARTH DEFENSE FORCE." Time really flies.
20 years... Really? 20 years? I can’t believe we’ve been creating ants for so long. It’s crazy if you think about it.
Over the years, I’ve become quite familiar with the anatomy of insects. I remember when I didn’t know what the abdomen of a wasp looked like, I had to order a wasp specimen to study it.
Sometimes I look for old modeling data of the characters, only to find that there is no software compatible with the data we have. I would bring out our old PCs only to realize how slow Windows XP was. These are the moments I realize that we’ve been working on this series for a long time. For your information, I was able to find a way to check our old data. Seeing the early modeling data really takes me back to when we first started.
The passionate support from our fans is the greatest encouragement to the members of our team. Thank you so much. We look forward to your continued support.

It has been 20 years since we released "SIMPLE 2000 Series Vol. 31 THE EARTH DEFENSE FORCE." In these 20 years, EDF became a standalone numbered series, became a full-price product, and gave birth to many spin-off products, amongst many other things. Last year, we released the newest installment in the series, "EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 6." It’s still really hard to believe it’s been 20 years. I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to everyone who has supported and embraced this series.
I’d also like to thank SANDLOT and every company we’ve worked with along with all the staff members, especially the creators.
For a human, it takes 20 years from the day they are born to become an adult. It is amazing to think that this has lasted for so long and that so many EDF members have defended Earth over that time. I cannot even begin to express how grateful I am.
We’d like to continue to define, and play our part in this industry, not just with the EDF series. We look forward to your continued guidance and encouragement.
