This was the third port of the numbered EDF series to Nintendo Switch. This was the first port of "EDF4.1" to a portable console. The porting of this title to the Nintendo Switch was thought to be difficult but it was executed well. The game can be played anytime, anywhere, and even on a large screen, which is only possible on the Nintendo Switch.

However, the population has shrunk by 90% and humanity was at risk of going extinct. The survivors continue to rebuild while fighting off the remaining threats... Three years pass, the year is 2027. In a new world without hope, it is one again time to fight for earth's future. A complete sequel to EDF5. Three years passed since the great war, and EDF continued to fight a war in a world where civilization has collapsed. This title boasted the largest volume in the series and had the strongest story connection with the previous versions. The catharsis of the game was how to save not only the Earth but also the friends who fought alongside the player from the desperate situation of the invaders' return to the devastated world. The game won the "PlayStation Partner Awards 2022 USER'S CHOICE AWARD" thanks to the support of players.

You become a member of the EDF to fight as the commander of the platoon "STORM-1." Various platoons appear in this title. Humanity's last hope is entrusted to the members of the EDF. The game is filled with homages and metafiction based on the series, and is just full of "EDF LOVE" in which the game is developed for all the EDF fans and those who will become EDF fans. The additional mission packs include the "Dragon Centipede,", which delighted the fans.

The year is 2040. The Earth has been devastated by the attack of the Aggressor, an invader from outer space. This is an action TPS game the depicts the story of EDF and its soldiers who continue to fight in a hopeless world. You will become the legendary soldier, awakened after 7 years of sleeping, who returns to the battlefield to restore peace on Earth. This was a unique title that allowed players to choose between male and female soldiers amongst four different soldier classes while customizing their appearance and clothing. The game also featured a variety of new challenges, such as co-op play for up to six players and competitive play for up to eight players, fitting for a spin-off title.

The year is 2022. This is an action-shooter game that depicts the battle between the "Earth Defense Force (EDF)" and alien life forms that have suddenly attacked the Earth. Become a soldier of the EDF and destroy countless giant enemies to protect Earth. Once again, the setting was renewed and the invader Primer attacks the Earth. This was an epic story of one civilian's journey to become a hero to save the earth. New systems such as weapon growth and auxiliary equipment was introduced, allowing for more unique battles and a wider range of strategy. The number of fans increased steadilty during the title's lifetime, and by 2022, it had reached 1,000,000 in sales.

This title takes place at the same time as the mothership shoot-down operation. The game features the dynamic battles that only a vertical-scroll shooter game can deliver: "just avoid," "just shoot," and "just destroy everything." The Pale Team," an elite NPC unit of the all-female Wing Diver Special Forces, takes the lead role in this alternate story set in the world of "EDF4.1." The danmaku/bullet hell genre is a popular shooting game genre but, have you ever seen a game where giant enemies occupy the whole screen? That's EDF for you. This was a digital only title.

An action shooter in which you take on the role of the captain of the EDF Special Forces Infantry/Special Assault Team "Storm" in a variety of operations. Use your wit and courage to fight back against the fear and despair of countless giant enemies. Use giant robots to confront the giant monsters. This is an all-out battle for the survival of mankind. More than half of the missions of EDF4 was renewed and was made available for the first time on PS4. New story elements concerning the monstrous creature "Erginus" was added. This was the first iteration of the series to feature Giant Robot vs Giant monsters. Armor recovery for NPCs was also introduced for some military units.

This title became a classic in the sci-fi action shooter genre with its countless giant creatures. With the introduction of online multiplayer and a new class, the battlefield had inifinite potential. This was the second "EDF2" port. In this PS Vita version, the soldier class, "Air Raider," makes its first appearance. The Air Raider allowed player to imploy "EDF4" tactics in the world of "EDF2."Although "EDF2" is the lowest numbered PS Vita title, it was released after "EDF3." Local and online multiplayer was also available on this version.

To make matters worse, a large fleet of aliens, the "Forliners," launches an attack from outer space on to major cities. The EDF is the last of hope of all human kind. This was the sequel to EDF3 which took place 8 years later concluding the Versus the Forliners story. This was the first time the four playable characters, "Ranger," "Wing Diver," "Air Raider," and "Fencer," were all available. It was the first time the first release of and EDF featured online multiplayer and weapons designed specifically for co-op play.

EDF retuns to the PS Vita with "EARTH DEFENSE FORCE 3" along with "Pale Wing." A port of EDF3. The game supported up to four-player coop play via ad-hoc/online multiplaye, which brought a new level of fun to the game. When certain conditions were met, the flying female soldier “Pale Wing” would appear. The "IF Pale Wings" was a newly redesigned version of the Pale Wing to fit the setting of EDF3. New missions and weapons were also been added.

In the year 20XX, the mysterious life form known as "Ravager" attacks New Detroit from outer space. Ants, spiders, robots... This is an action-shooter game in which the Earth must be saved from the countless giant creatures that threaten to exterminate the human race. This EDF was created by an American development team. Four types of soldier classes appeared in this game: "trooper type," "jet type," "battle type," and "tactical type," which somewhat influenced the four soldier classes that appear in the later numbered title "EDF4." You will fight as Lightning Alpha, the captain and protagonist of Strike Force Lightning. All right, let's do this!!!!

Year 2019, State of Emergency. The player fights droves of giant enemies in London and Tokyo as a member of the EDF. There are many ways to eliminate the enemies; rushing into a huge group of enemies or sniping them from a distance, to name a few. This PSP port of "Earth Defense Force 2," added four-player local co-op play using the PSP's ad-hoc mode, new missions, and new weapons. For the first time, the game released on a handheld console and was the first in the series to implement local multiplayer. This was also the first time that the "Double Enlistment Pack" was released which allowed players to enlist with their friends at a discount price, immediately giving players to start local co-op.

In 2017, an unidentified flying object flies over Tokyo and launches an indiscriminate attack. Overwhelming technology and vast numbers of giant creatures attacks the Earth. Humanity is once again in danger of extinction. The first Xbox 360 version was also the first full-price title in the series. With a completely new world setting, the title focuses on the story of the Forliners. This was the first version to imploy HD graphics which intensified the battles with giant creatures. Although the only playable soldier class was the Soldier, many NPCs were added to the game allowing for squads. The military feel of the game was increased with fighting in numbers.

EDF is breaking through in the world of war simulation. Players lead EDF units to confront the powerful invaders. The story progresses in the world of "THE Earth Defence Force 2." The insect enemies, which were thought to be exterminated, were not. Travel back and forth from London to Tokyo to get deeper into the subterranean enemy lair... This was the last entry in the SIMPLE 2000 series. This was EDF as a completely different game genre. If you can appreciate the battle scenes in this, you can call yourself an advanced EDF player.

June 12, 2019 - State of Emergency. There is an urgent call from the UK. A vast number of giant creatures have appeared in London. The worst horror in human history has arrived, again. Released about two years after the previous title, which was well received by the fans, this sequel concludes the Versus Invader story. It appeared as Vol. 81 of the "SIMPLE 2000 Series" and boasted an unbelievable amount of content despite being a low-priced title. "Pale Wing," the now-familiar flying female soldier, makes her first appearance. The range of game playing strategy was greatly expanded by the appearance of a character with completely different controls and weapons. The hundred-legged dragon worm "Dragon Centipede," is still talked about to this day. This is the only numbered EDF title, which allowed players to fight this enemy.

In the year 20XX, a giant unidentified flying object suddenly appears in the skies over a large city and begins releasing countless giant ant-like creatures. The peaceful city is transformed into a state of carnage. Everyone realizes that the entire planet is in danger... Without knowing that it would later become a series, the first EDF game appeared as Vol.31 of the low-priced game series "SIMPLE 2000 Series." Soldiers in the flesh stand as Earth's guardians against numerous giant enemies that fill up the screen. June 26, 2003 is marks the date of birth of the EDF series.
